West Auckland made two additions to their squad before yesterday’s match, and both featured in the home win.

They beat North Shields 2-0, with goalkeeper Sam Guthrie and striker Adam Wrightson both starting at the Wanted Stadium.

Guthrie has joined from Gateshead on a season-long loan, while Wrightson signs after leaving Blyth Spartans after the end of last season.

Jordan Blinco grabbed both goals yesterday, scoring in each half as West won for the second time this season to move up to 14th.

In the West starting XI was newly-signed Gary Brown, who recently joined from South Shields. He was one of five ex-Darlington players in the West side, with Chris Hunter, Evan Horwood, Leon Scott and Anthony Bell all playing.

Meanwhile, Mason Hurworth has left West to join Tow Law.

West are away to Seaham Red Star on Tuesday (7.30pm).
