After Darlington’s draw with Spennymoor Town today, Craig Stoddart looks at some of the statistics to emerge from the contest.

Darlington’s wait for a home league win continues. The point earned was their first at Blackwell Meadows this season, but not since January 18 when they beat Alfreton 3-0 have Quakers won a home league match.

Darlington and Spennymoor Town have now met 13 times in all, with this result being the fourth draw. Quakers have won 6 and Moors 3.

It is exactly eight years and one week since the teams last had a goalless draw with each other. It was December 19, 2012 at Heritage Park when they previously drew 0-0, the first meeting in the Northern League season. Joe Tait and Stephen Thompson were in the Darlington XI that day, who were two of the three former Quakers in Spennymoor’s team today (Rob Ramshaw being the other).

The game was Will Hatfield’s 50th appearance for Darlington. His records reads: W23 D9 L18

Melvin Minter was not tested severely, but will still be pleased to record another clean sheet. That’s three in five appearances for the on-loan goalkeeper.

The 0-0 draw was Darlington’s first since drawing a blank with Hereford at Blackwell in November 2019.

The draw ends Darlington winning run on Boxing Day but they have not lost on December 26th since 2006.
